Enjoy a day out on the vast frozen Upper or Lower Kananaskis Lakes which boast excellent fishing and 360 mountain views. In Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes look forward to catching Trophy Sized; Bull Trout (3lbs - 12lbs) , Rainbow Trout (2lbs-16lbs) and Westslope Cutthroat Trout (2lbs-10lbs). ​

Embarking on a guided ice fishing adventure in the mountains is an exhilarating and rewarding experience for both novice and seasoned anglers alike. The crisp mountain air, stunning snow-covered landscapes, and the thrill of catching the fish of a lifetime through a hole in the ice create a unique and unforgettable mountain adventure.

During your guided trip, you can expect to learn valuable tips and techniques from experienced guides who are well-versed in the art of ice fishing. Optimal Angling provides you with all the necessary equipment, such as tackle, fishing rods, and fish finders, ensuring you have everything you need for a successful day on the ice. Additionally, our guides will lead you to their favorite spots on the frozen lake where fish are being caught and released often by our clients.

Whether you're targeting bull trout, rainbow trout, or cutthroat trout, the tranquility and beauty of the mountain setting combined with the excitement of hooking in a trophy fish make for a truly unforgettable experience. Meeting location for Lower Kananaskis Lake is the Canyon boat launch and Upper Kananaskis Lake is at the Upper Kananaskis boat launch.

Optimal Angling Co will provide; high quality rods, reels, premium lures and flies, heater, seating, insulated shelter (winter),Boat (summer) Garmin Livescope Fish Finder, First Aid kit, fishing guide, knowledge of the lake and a cooler of water. 

What You Provide

Once you book your trip with Optimal Angling Co. you will need to provide an up-to-date WIN card and Alberta Fishing License for the date of your excursion for anglers 16 years old or older (which can be purchased here).

You will require a Kananaskis day pass for your vehicle to have access to the provincial park and day use areas. Pass can be purchased here for the date of your adventure.

Transportation to and from the location is not provided, so you will have to arrange a way to get there and back safely.

Ice Fishing Adventures

 We recommend wearing warm layers of clothing and bringing extra layers, as conditions can change quickly.  Warm winter outerwear you'll need includes; A winter coat, snow pants, gloves, hat/toque, warm waterproof boots, sunglasses and sunscreen. We recommend bringing a few small snacks, or an easy lunch that you can enjoy during the excursion to keep you energized. Bring along beverages of your choice with you.

Deposit and Payment Information

A deposit of 30% of the trip total will be taken to hold the spot, if the trip is canceled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances within 72hours 50% of the deposit will be refunded. A 3.5% processing fee on credit card refunds will be applied. If canceled within 48 hours of the trip or don’t show the deposit will not be refunded.

Please note that late payment of final invoice will result in a late fee being added to the invoice.
